Anointing of the Sick

Those whose are seriously ill or whose health is seriously impaired by old age should receive this Sacrament. The Rite of Anointing does not require a person to wait until being at the point of death to receive the Sacrament. A careful judgment about the serious nature of the illness is sufficient. Anyone who is planning on going in for surgery may also request this Sacrament, as a spiritual preparation for their soul should an unforeseen or early death occur.

We ask that the family not wait until the last moment to call the priest, since this Sacrament cannot be conferred once a person has died.
